Charlotte Moore Intro FYE

Hey, my name is Charlotte Moore and I am a freshman Biology major from Peachtree City, Georgia! With my Biology degree, I aspire to study Marine Biology to hopefully become a Marine Veterinarian. I have always been passionate about our oceans and marine life and believe conservation is crucial for our world to thrive. My favorite vacation spot is the beach, and I enjoy surfing while I am there. Traveling is one of my biggest passions, as I love to see new sights, meet new people, and experience new cultures.  I hope to study abroad and use the Study Abroad center resources while in college to get the best of both worlds academically and socially!
Georgia Southern was not my first choice, but the large campus feel and beauty of the campus made it an easy choice to pursue my undergraduate education. Although it is only the first week, I have already made friendships I am confident with stay strong in the future.    When talking in class about the word "engage", I instantly connected this word to my new social life and being involved in campus events outside of academics. My new companions and I make time in the Centennial Place study rooms to complete homework, while also enjoying the RAC group fit classes, late night car rides, and spontaneous Walmart runs. Personally, I utilize the computer lab in my dorm building quite often to print pages of homework weekly.  Engagement to me is getting involved while being surrounded by people you can connect and bond with. The TED talk we watched in class sparked an interest to watch more and I found one on how education and imaginations can benefit students in the real world. https://www.ted.com/talks/ramsey_musallam_3_rules_to_spark_learning?language=en. It is very important to be not only engage academically but socially.  Relationships are crucial for career connections and lifetime partnerships. I look forward to participating in more activities and allowing my curiosity of the world to lead me to new discoveries!
